Crews dealt with a large amount of scrub on fire in a field over the weekend, access was a problem as the ground was marshy and the fire was located in the middle of the field off the roadway and several lengths of hose away too. Each length of hose is 25mtrs. As you can see from the pictures we used the second appliance to keep the main pumping appliance topped up with water.
Each Water tender carries 1800ltrs of water on board but when using 45mm hose this can be used up extremely quickly so we use the second Appliance to ferry water from a Water source and keep it topped up. The eagle eyed among you might have noticed the Fire Hydrant on the path behind the Main Pump!!!! Why didn’t we use it you may ask? Well unfortunately it was out of action due to timed maintenance.. ~Waterford City Fire Service FB County Clare 1st April 2020
