Wednesday 27th February Clifden Fire & Rescue seen attending a Gorse Fire on the Racecourse Road, Clifden, County Galway. GY14A1, GY14A2 and GY14K1 attended the fire which was in close proximity to a number of homes. Clifden were then backed up by An Cheathrú Rua ( Carraroe ) GY22A1 to assist them.

Fire Crews from Leitrim and Roscommon attended a Second Fire in a month at the Shannon Key West Hotel in Rooskey, County Leitrim on Monday 11th February. The Fire is again believed to have been started maliciously and Gardai cordoned off the area

Sligo City Fire Crews seen in attendance at a Fire in an Industrial Unit in Finiskin in the City on Saturday 13th January. Plumes of smoke could be seen over the industrial area. Galway 17th November 2017
Galway City Firefighters including specialist appliances including an Emergency Tender & Aerial Appliance responded to the Ferris Wheel at the Christmas Market in the City on Friday 17th November.
The Ferris Wheel had stopped and operators were unable to move it. Fire Crews were then tasked with Rescuing People stuck in all carts. No reports of any injuries. National Ambulance Service and Gardai attended the scene also

Fire Crews from Galway City and surrounding County were called to the scene of a fire at the disused Sacre Coeur Hotel in Salthill Galway City on Monday evening 6th June
Gardai closed surrounding roads whilst Firefighting Operations continued. The Fire was brought under control later that evening. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time

The Scene from Salthill, County Galway Tuesday evening 18th February. Emergency Services were called after a man was spotted on the roof of an apartment block in the town. Galway City Fire Service, Local Gardaí, Armed Regional Response Gardaí & HSE Ambulance Service attended the scene.
At the request of the Gardaí a media blackout was requested whilst they delt with the incident. After 4hrs the man was lead to safety and was taken into Garda custody.

Scene of a major fire broke at a well-known Cash & Carry in Ballina, County Mayo in the early hours of Tuesday 26th March. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, but it is understood the blaze was not started maliciously.
The fire at Tuffy’s Cash & Carry in Bohernasup, Ballina, was reported shortly after midnight on Tuesday morning, & three units of the fire brigade from Ballina (County Mayo), Enniscrone (County Sligo) and Crossmolina ( County Mayo) helped tackle the blaze. The fire caused extensive damage to the building before it was eventually brought under control.

Scene of a fire in a commercial unit in Sligo on Thursday 21st March. The commercial unit was located on Ballast Quay and was destroyed by the fire which started shortly after 6pm. It is believed, but not confirmed yet that the roof of the commerical unit contained asbestos. 5 units of the Sligo Fire Service from Sligo Town attended the scene.

It is understood that a chip pan maybe to blame for a massive fire which destroyed a large section of the Shannon Oaks Hotel in Portumna. The fire broke out at about one o'clock on Wednesday the 7th of Sept and fire crews from Loughrea Galway City and also crews from Co Roscommon ( Stations Unknown ) had to deal with low water pressure in their efforts to bring the Blaze under control. There where about 40 guests in the Hotel at the time of the fire and everone was evacuated and there where no injurys.

In total 5 Appliances and 2 HPs from Galway City,Loughrea,Tuam and Athenry attended the scene. Firefighters where on scene for over 12hrs.
