On Wednesday 17th July 5 units of the Dublin Fire Brigade attended Howth Hill after a large Gorse Fire occured on the hill. No homes where threatened but the fire did reignite in the early hours of Thursday 18th July. Scene of a car fire on the M1 Motorway close to Dublin Airport on Thursday 11th July. Dublin Fire Brigade Kilbarrack Station attended the scene. The car fire came following a seperate incident just futher up the motorway when a high speed chase in a garda operation ended that saw two lanes of the M1 in Dublin closed. A Garda (Irish Police) transport van caught fire on the M7 motorway between Monasterevin and Kildare on Monday 17th June. Units of the Fire brigade from Newbridge attended the scene and the incident was brought under control. There were no reports of any injuries.

Scene of a house in Hand St in Drogheda. We are sorry to say that one person lost their live in the incident. Units of the fire service from Drogheda, Dunleer and Dundalk along with HSE Ambulance Service and Gardai attended the scene.

The Dublin Fire Brigade was called to deal with a fire in one of the labs in Trinity College Dublin this afternoon (Saturday 15th June). A spokesperson told TheJournal.ie that Ten Units of the fire brigade attended the incident. It is understood that a small fire broke out in the lab area of the college.
The spokesperson confirmed that chemicals were involved and it was treated as a hazmat incident but there was no explosion. The fire has now been brought under control Units in Attendance Delta's 101, 102. 104, 106, Incident Command Unit, District Officer Echo (Tara St. Station), 11, 12, 13, District Officer Alpha (Donnybrook Station), 21, 25 (Dolphins Barn Station), 31 (Phibsboro Station), 41 (North Strand Station), Advanced Paramedic & Senior Officer
Dublin 14th June 2013
The scene of a car fire at Chapel Lane, Lusk, Co. Dublin on Friday morning 14th June. The driver of the car was dropping kids of at school when a fire started in the engine. Two kids in the car and the driver escaped without any injury. Delta 241 (Skerries Station) arrived on scene and quickly had it extinguished using 2 hose reels. Dublin 14th June 2013
Dublin's Camden Street was closed off to all traffic Friday morning 14th June after a fire was reported to have broken out in one of the buildings there. Five fire engines were on the scene outside Flannery’s pub on the busy street although it was not clear where on the street the fire broke out or what damage it caused. Witnesses said the fire did not appear to be a major one. Gardaí had blocked off the road and were advising motorists to avoid the area but the street has since reopened and traffic is moving as normal. www.thejournal.ie County Wicklow 8th June 2013

The Crumb Rubber Factory a few miles outside Dundalk was the scene of a blaze on the 30/04/2013. Several units of the Fire Service from Dundalk and Ardee along with the HSE Ambulance Service attended the scene.

One person was injured in an incident on board a ship in Waterford Port while the ship was unloading it's cargo. Emergency Services were tasked to the scene involving the Fire Service, HSE Ambulance Service, Gardai,Coast Guard and a Rescue Helicoptor ( Rescue 117 ). Dublin 31/03/2013

Two cars were set alight in a housing estate off St Mary's Rd in Arklow on Saturday the 23/03/2013. Two units of the Fire Service from Arklow were alerted to the blaze at around 04.15hrs. Gardai also attended the scene.

Scene of a house fire at Seatown Place in Dundalk on the 13/03/2013. Three units of the Fire Service from Dundalk and one unit from Ardee attended the scene. The road had to be closed for a number of hours to allow Firefighters time to fight the fire.

A man driving a white van stopped the vehicle outside Goverment Buildings on Kildare St in Dublin on the 07/03/2013. He then climbed on to the roof of the vehicle and poured petrol all over himself threating to set himself alight. Gardai removed the man from the scene and one unit of the Dublin Fire Brigade hosed down the vehicle and the road to make it safe.

** Dublin Airport UPDATE @ 20:00 hrs 7th March **
The Main Runway at the Dublin Airport has re-opened this evening the 7th March following an incident earlier this morning at around 09.00hrs. The aircraft – which had two German crew members on board – landed as normal at Dublin Airport but experienced problems with its front nosewheel which led to it collapsing on the main runway. Emergency services were on the scene in an attempt to assist the aircraft, causing a series of delays and flight diversions. The airport is now operating as normal on the main runway as the aircraft has being removed and an inspection was carried out on the runway.

Photo from late 2011 from the River Liffey, Dublin. A River Rescue taking place involving Delta 106 & the River Rescue Boat. A male had jumped into the river & was rescued by Dublin Fire Brigade Firefighters. As he was rescued another male jumped into the river not far away from the scene but sadly died.

Fire Crews from Monasterevin and Athy Fire Stations attending a fire in Tommy Maloney Car Sales in Monasterevin, County Kildare on Sat 29th Dec 2012. Although the fire was contained to a garage workshop, this building contained cyliners of Acetylene (or Ethyne) gas. Because of the presence of this explosive material, two nearby houses had to be evacuated and the road had to be closed due to safety concerns. These evacuations stayed in place for 24 hours to ensure that the cylinders were fully cooled. There were no injuries. Video Coming Soon... Dublin 26/12/2012
A large fire broke out at an apartment block at Marine Parade in Sandycove at about 1.20am on Wednesday 26th Dec. Several units of the Dublin Fire Brigade attended the blaze. Five Units of the Dublin Fire Brigade brought a fire at a Dublin city centre pub under control in the early hours of Tuesday 11th December. The fire happened at the Karma Stone pub at the junction of Wexford Street and Kevin Street.
People were still inside the pub when the incident happened but no injuries were reported and no-one was taken to hospital.

Incident: Eighteen people were taken to hospital on Wednesday 5th Dec '12 after toxic fumes leaked from a boat carrying grain. Police and emergency services were called to the MV Arklow Meadow, which had docked in Warrenpoint harbour, Co. Down with a cargo of grain. Houses and businesses near the quayside were evacuated. Due to its close proximity to the harbour Fire Crews from Louth County Council Fire & Rescue mobilised on the Republic side of the border. Statement from NIFRS “The incident at Warrenpoint Harbour has now been dealt with. We currently have 3 Fire Appliances on standby in the Harbour area and these will remain there for the next few hours as a precautionary measure.
“Eight Fire Appliances, 3 Specialist Appliances, a Command Support Unit, 60 Firefighters and a number of specially trained hazardous material Fire Officers dealt with the incident. We worked closely with our colleagues in other emergency services, the local Harbour Authority, Public Health and statutory agencies to ensure this incident was dealt with as safely and effectively as possible.
“We can confirm that the substance onboard the vessel was Aluminium Phosphide. We want to reiterate the Public Health Agency message that all risk of adverse health effects associated with this incident applies only to those who have come into direct contact with the gas and that there is no risk to the wider public. We have taken all the necessary safety precautions to protect our Firefighters who were dealing with the incident.
“The incident is now being investigated by the Health & Safety Executive for Northern Ireland.”

The scene of an unknown incident in Dublin City Centre on Wednesday 28th November County Longford 13/11/2012
A man was been taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation after a fire in Longford town on Sunday 13th November. The blaze broke out at a business premises in Annaly Court shortly before 9pm. Two units of the fire service brought the fire under control. A nearby apartment was evacuated for a short time. County Meath 10/11/2012
Dublin Fire Brigade crews (D231 Balbriggan, D31 & 35 Phibsboro, D/O Foxtrot Finglas and Coast Guard Helicopter Rescue 116 at an incident in Stamullen Co. Meath were a man fell down into a hole at a local air gun assault course. Appliances were unable to access due to location and had a 10 minute walk across rough ground to reach the casualty who suffered a suspected broken leg. Rescue 116 was called in to lift the patient but due to the location and dense woodland and trees fire crews had to carry the patient to awaiting ambulance. Dublin 03/11/2012

Four units of the Dublin Fire Brigade responded to the Abbey Theatre at around 1.30pm on Friday 26th Oct after smoke was seen coming from inside the building. The building was evacuated for some time while the fire services investigated. No injuries were reported and its thought the smoke was came from a lights inside.
