County Cork 16th November 2025
At approximately 23:00 on Sunday16th November, Cobh Fire Brigade and Cork City Fire Brigade were mobilised by the Munster Regional Control Centre to a truck fire in a warehouse operated by Independent Express Cargo in Ballytrasna, Little Island, Co. Cork. On route to the incident addition resources were requested as a large plume of smoke was visible coming from the above address. On arrival, the building was well alight with flames coming through the roof in the eastern part of the warehouse.
The contents of the warehouse provided a large fuel load consisting of numerous rigid and artic trucks loaded with timber, coal, brickettes etc. ready for delivery. Additional resources and fire crews responded from Midleton Fire station. Due to the size of the fire and available water supply at the incident, Ariel Platforms and Water Tankers also responded from Midleton, Cork City, Mallow, and Bandon Fire Stations. As this was a large incident Cork County Fire Service’s Incident Command Unit attended from Carrigaline Fire Station. The fire crews fought the fire throughout the night and brought it under control at approximately 02:30. In difficult circumstances, all brigades worked well together and prevented the fire spreading to 2 neighbouring buildings. Midleton and Cobh Fire Brigades remained at the scene throughout the night and were relieved by Youghal Fire Brigade this morning. The incident is ongoing but is under control with damping down operations continuing. ~Cork County Fire & Rescue Service FB Cork City 20th November 2025
