On Wednesday 29th April a Road Traffic Collision Simulation exercise took place on the N22 Westbound (Ballincollig Bypass) at Junction 2 (Greenfields). The Exercise was used to highlight the dangers that can arise from incidents on roads, but particularly on Motorways or Dual Carriageways. This multi-agency training exercise was attended by Cork City Garda Síochána, the HSE’s National Ambulance Service, Cork County Fire Service, Cork City Fire Brigade and Eglis Lgan MMARC – Motorway Maintenance & Repair Contractor. Personnel were trained in –
• Site Management of incidents on Motorways and Dual Carriageways
• Safe positioning of Emergency Response and Recovery Vehicles.
• Dangers to emergency response personnel when working at such incidents
• The dangers to other road users at such incidents

A Major training exercise was held at Belfast Castle on Sunday 23rd February by NIFRS. The purpose of the exercise was to test NIFRS operational ability to obtain and deliver water supplies over 2km to an incident involving a fire in a large building. 3 High Volume Pumps, 7 Fire Appliances, a Command Support Unit and approximately 40 Firefighters were used during the exercise Galway Fire and Rescue Service
